It all starts with a sketch. from that the mold took shape and this morning, I used gelcoat on a part for the first time. Turns out I laid it on a little thick resulting in a spider crack, but it turned out far better than I deserved it to with such a quick and dirty mold. I also mixed the gelcoat at 10% (pretty hot!) this wouldn’t have helped with the volume problem.
You can see the bleed out is a little uneven under the bag. In my rush I didn’t pay the most attention to getting an even resin content. Sometimes on a wet bag its better to put two layers of perforated film/breather so it doesn’t saturate the breather like mine did in spots.
After cutting some holes and dry-fitting things I moved on to working on my gimballed stove.
I also need to thank Bruce for lunch. It was much appreciated, this man knows how to make a soup!
